Our Aims & Values

PCS is a member-centred union, run by its members, for its members. It is a listening union which is open and democratic. Key PCS aims are to defend members, protect their interests, and give them a voice over decisions that affect them. Members want more security at work, better living standards, fair treatment, and a decent working environment.

PCS negotiates for its members to achieve these aims.

PCS speaks up for its members wherever their voice needs to be heard.

in workplaces we represent our members and defend their interests. We talk to major private and public sector employers and negotiate on your behalf.

PCS is active in public and parliamentary affairs. We speak to ministers, MPs, and decision makers.

PCS is also active in Europe, making sure members can benefit from the latest developments.

PCS listens to its members and is run by them. Members elect local representatives and the President and National Executive of the union. Members take a direct part in key decisions on pay and on union action through ballots.
